In parallel we are also launching a new company-wide recycling scheme which will see us recycling materials as diverse as fluorescent tubes and pallet shrink-wrapping. The SMART scheme operates locally as part of the Envirowise Resource Efficiency Club programme which is funded by DEFRA; it is coordinated locally by Dorset Business (formerly Dorset Chamber of Commerce) and the South Wessex Waste Minimisation Group. |
Starting in February and following a successful bid, we will participate in the nationally funded SMART (Sustainable Manufacturing and Resource Targets) scheme which assists SMEs to identify and quantify energy usages and then to helps to develop action plans to reduce them. In doing so we will reduce our "Carbon Footprint" - a measure of the amount of carbon based emissions produced that contribute to the problem of climate change. |
